Terms of Service

1. What this agreement covers

These terms govern your use of HirePross. By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. What we are — and are not

We operate a marketplace that connects customers with independent service professionals. We are not a party to the contract between you and the professional you hire. We do not employ professionals, do not supervise or control their work, and do not perform services ourselves.

The agreement for the work itself is between the customer and the professional. We provide the platform, the verification checks described on the profile, the escrow mechanism, and dispute handling.

3. Accounts

You must be 18 or older and provide accurate information. You are responsible for your account credentials and for activity under your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorised use.

4. For customers

  • Posting a job and receiving quotes is free.
  • Accepting a quote forms an agreement with that professional and funds the escrow for the agreed amount.
  • You agree to review completed work promptly. If you do not confirm or raise an issue within the inspection window (72 hours, or 24 hours for emergency jobs), payment is released automatically.
  • Describe your job accurately. Quotes are given on the basis of what you post.

5. For professionals

  • You are an independent contractor, not an employee, agent or partner of HirePross.
  • You are responsible for your own licensing, insurance, permits, tools, taxes and compliance with the law in your province.
  • You must hold the qualifications and licences you claim, and must not misrepresent your verification status.
  • Quotes are binding once accepted. Additional work must be agreed with the customer before it is performed.
  • A commission is deducted from completed jobs at the rate published on our pricing page.

6. Payments and escrow

Payment for accepted quotes is held in escrow and released to the professional when the customer confirms completion, or when the inspection window expires. Where a job is not completed as agreed, funds may be refunded to the customer in whole. Escrow funds are held pending resolution and are not the property of either party until released.

7. Disputes

Either party may raise an issue on a funded booking. Doing so freezes the escrow while the matter is reviewed. We will consider the job description, message history and evidence supplied, and may release or refund the held funds. Our role is limited to deciding how the escrow is resolved — it does not extend to adjudicating claims beyond the amount held.

8. Prohibited conduct

  • Arranging payment outside the platform to avoid fees or escrow protection.
  • Misrepresenting identity, qualifications, licensing or insurance.
  • Posting false reviews, or offering anything in exchange for a review.
  • Harassment, discrimination, or unlawful activity.
  • Scraping, reverse engineering, or interfering with the operation of the service.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms.

9. Reviews and content

You retain ownership of content you post, and grant us a licence to display it in operating the service. Reviews may only be left following a genuine completed booking. We may remove content that breaches these terms.

10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The platform is provided “as is”. We do not warrant the quality, safety or legality of work performed by professionals, and verification checks are a reasonable-effort process, not a guarantee.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our liability arising from your use of the service is limited to the amount of commission we received on the transaction in question. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

11. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your use of the service, your breach of these terms, or — for professionals — the work you perform.

12. Changes and termination

We may amend these terms and will post changes here with an updated date. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance. You may close your account at any time; obligations relating to completed transactions survive closure.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the province in which the operator is established, and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
